Tamopsis novaehollandiae : ウィキペディア英語版 | Tamopsis novaehollandiae
''Tamopsis novaehollandiae'' is a common tree dwelling spider occurring in eastern Australia. It is sometimes referred to as the Two Tailed Spider because of the long twin spinnerets. The preferred habitat is on tree trunks, rocky outcrops and overhangs. Camouflage is used to avoid predation, as is the remarkable speed when threatened. Despite being tree dwellers, they do not hide under bark.〔Australian Spiders, John Child. Library of Congress Catalogue Card No 67-30800 page 92〕 ==Taxonomy== ''Tamopsis novaehollandiae'' was first described in 1876 by German entomologist Ludwig Carl Christian Koch, who had studied and described many Australian spiders in the 19th century. Its specific name ''novaehollandiae'' is a Latin form of "New Holland", an archaic name for Australia.
